2018 will see the launch of our first dedicated tour to Bangladesh as well as the countries famed mangrove forest, the Sundarbans. This tour last for 8 days and 7 nights and costs 1069€.
Oct. 8th: Arrive into Dhaka on your international flight. You will be collected by our driver and taken to your hotel to overnight.
Oct. 9th: Our tour starts today in Dhaka at 9:00.
Our guide will meet us at our hotel lobby at 9.00, and we'll head toward Old Dhaka. We’ll visit key tourist attractions in Old Dhaka throughout the day, including Dhakeshwari Temple, Lalbagh Fort, Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque, Armenian Church, Star Mosque, Ahsan Manjil, and Sadarghat River Station with a top for lunch at a local restaurant at midday.
At 18:00 we will embark the Rocket Steamer at Sadarghat River Station and partake in a memorable overnight journey in to Hularhat.
Oct. 10th: Arise early to enjoy the riverine beauty of Bangladesh from the Rocket Steamer before disembarking at Hularhat around 9.00.
We then set off in an air-conditioned bus, and visit the 15th century Muslim city of Bagerhat, a UNESCO world heritage site.
We’ll visit most of the remaining mosques of the city throughout the day, including the 60 Dome Mosque, 9 Domed Mosque, Rono Bijoypur Mosque, Chunakhola Mosque, Bigi Beguni Mosque, and Singair Mosque. Also we’ll take a visit to the shrine of Khan Jahan Ali (the Turkish saint who came to spread Islam into Bangladesh), and Kodla Moth – a beautiful 17th Century Hindu temple from 17th century. In the early evening we drive onwards to Mongla (1 hour) where we'll stay overnight.
Oct. 11th: Transfer to our waiting boat on the jetty at 06:00, and head toward the Sundarbans.
Stop at a forest station on the way to complete formalities, and continue toward Kochikhali. We’ll go through many small canals and rivers with our small boat where larger boats cannot go because of the canals being shallow. Taking you through these scenic narrow canals is a highlight of this small boat tour. There is a rare chance to spot a tiger and other wildlife. Our local guides have spotted tigers but this is incredibly rare. We’ll reach Kochikhali in the evening, and explore another canal on a small row boat in search of wild-life. You’ll sit on the boat quietly and float by on a breath-taking environment listening to many birds singing, and the calls of many animals. Stay overnight on the boat in a sleeping cabin, anchoring in the middle of the river in front of Kochikhali forest station.
Oct. 12th: Ride a wooden rowboat on a canal in the morning in search of wildlife. Back to the main boat, and have breakfast at 07.30 H. Start hiking on the forest from Kochikhali forest station toward the Jamtola Beach (10 km, 03 hrs). Spend an hour on the beach which is the quietest, nicest, and cleanest beach in Bangladesh, and hike toward Kotka forest station through the forest. Reach Kotka station and transfer to our waiting boat which already arrived here from Kochikhali through an inside canal. Lunch on the boat and have couple of hours rest. Go to the watch tower at Kotka and seat there rest of the evening. This is a feeding ground of animals. Lots of deer and other wild animals come here in the evening to eat grass and drink water. You never know what surprises can be waiting for you here! Stay overnight on the boat in a sleeping cabin, anchoring in the middle of the river in front of Kotka forest station.
Oct. 13th: Go for a boat ride on the small row boat at 06.00 H and explore a canal near Kotka Wildlife Sanctuary. Return to the main boat at 07.30 and have breakfast. We’ll start our return journey toward Mongla from here through other small rivers and canals. Visit a fishing village in on the way, reach Mongla in the afternoon, and drive to Khulna (1.5 hrs). Overnight at Khulna.
Oct. 14th: After breakfast, transfer to Khulna Railway Station. Depart for Dhaka on 08.30 H Chitra Express. Arrive Dhaka around 18.00 H, and transfer to hotel. Overnight at Dhaka.
Oct. 15th: Today is the end of our tour. We'll provide an airport transfer inline with your departing flight.
